For guests looking for other activities, there is a Farmer’s Market with organic produce from local farmers on Saturday mornings at the corner of Brady Street and Long Avenue in downtown DuBois. Brady Street is part of the historic downtown and offers a lovely walk, in addition to shops and restaurants, including Luigi’s Italian Restaurant, which is a regular visiting place for the Shah/Parekh crew. Random Information | Kids, Weather, Shoes, Clothes…did we forget anything?
Many of our family and friends have small children and we are so excited to have the little ones be a part of this celebration! We will have a couple of sitters on hand at the wedding to help and to keep an eye on sleeping children, if parents want to stay later than usual bedtimes. We will provide additional information for parents closer to the
wedding.
· · ·
The wedding festivities will be held mainly outdoors under tents.
The weather in September is usually lovely, but as the date gets closer,
we will let guests know if they should be preparing for an unusually warm or
unusually chilly September evening.
· · ·
As a practical matter, since the events will be outdoors, shoes with a sharp heel may not be the most comfortable choice. Parisha recommends flats or shoes with a wedge heel for the ladies. Dimitri is confused about the term “shoes with a wedge heel” so he simply recommends that gentlemen should wear shoes.
· · ·
Our wedding is a hybrid of cultures and traditions in a nontraditional setting.
A number of people have asked what to wear, and we strongly encourage
everyone to wear whatever they would like. If it helps to know, most ladies will
be dressed in saris or cocktail dresses; most gentlemen will be dressed in
suits. Kids will likely be dressed in whatever they feel like wearing at the moment!
There is no formal dress code for the wedding – we want people to be
happy, so wear whatever makes you happy! Also, for those who are used to this tradition, no changing of clothes will be necessary between the wedding and reception!
· · ·
When we began planning this event, we decided that we wanted an intimate party with our families and our friends who are essentially extensions of our families. When we wrote up the list, we really came to appreciate that we have the most fabulous friends and family that two people could ever hope to have.
Thank you for sharing this special occasion with us.
If there is any more information we can provide or anything we can do to help with your travel plans, please do not hesitate to ask!
